The leaves are young and delicate and are only harvested at the beginning of the harvest season in late March, April, and May. This is the period of the year when the optimal conditions in terms of humidity and air temperature are achieved. The result is a premium grade copper colored Orange Pekoe black tea with a distinct flavor and fruity aroma. It is ideally suited for an afternoon tea. Orange Pekoe is a grade of black tea which is known for its high quality, large leaf and fruity aroma. The Portuguese Orange Pekoe is unique due to the specific terroir of Azores, Portugal and the way it is grown and produced.
